I bought a new guitar :)

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a new guitar :)
I have a guitar but the guitar makes noise when I play it, so I wanted to buy a new one. (Also, the guitar is not mine. It is my mom's guitar :) So, I wanna have MY guitar)

I went to a store and saw some guitars.
There were many kinds of guitar in the store.
Classic guitar, Acoustic guitar, and Electric guitar.
I needed to buy an Acoustic guitar.
The shop has a lot of Acoustic guitars :)
Many colors, shapes, and brands.

It was hard to choose one, so I made a list.

1, Price
2, Design
3, Color
4, Sound

I think I don't play everyday, so I don't need very very fantastic one. Maybe I should not buy an expensive one.
Then, my hands are not big, so I need to buy a guitar that has thin neck, and small body.
Color is important too. I don't want to play a guitar which doesn't have nice color :(
Sound is important!! Most of the time, high price guitar has a beautiful sound, but I don't want to spend a lot of money :P

Anyways, now I have MY guitar :D
I like it.
I like the color too.
I want to sing songs with my guitar :)

How's your Halloween???

I know It is late to say it, but I'd like to say "Happy Halloween :)"

How's your Halloween this year?
Did you do something fun??
Did you go to a party?
Did you get some treat?
Did you see around neighbor's houses??

Since Halloween is kind of new event for Japanese, most of people usually do nothing on this day.
Especially in a country side, like my home town, not many people care about this holiday.

However, I wanted to do something. Because it is always fun to have a party :)
So, I gave some treats to my family, and decorate inside of my house little bit, and made a cake.

I bought pop corn and cookies :)

I made a bags of treats.

You can see a cake. my niece likes decoration. She said "It's a Birthday!!!" and sang a birthday song :D

We didn't have a big party this year, but I enjoy our Halloween :) I wish I will take my niece to a Halloween Party and try "Trick or Treat" with her someday :)

The cafe is located very nice place!!!
I took some picture, and I wanna show you them :D
you can see this view while you drink and eat.

There is a water fall
The water is really clear. you can see the bottom of the river.
When you come visit me, I'll bring you this place :D

Beautiful Sunset :)

When I went back to my home, I saw a beautiful sunset.
My house is surrounded by rice farms.
Yes, I live in country side. Not Tokyo.
Anyways, the sunset is 100 times beautiful than the picture.
I wish I could see it with you :(

Do you like it? :)

Ciao Ciao~~!!

Teaching Japanese

I found an advertizement the other day, it said there are some Japanese class and they are looking for people who can help to teach Japanese.

When I found the advertizement, I'm not sure if I could teach Japanese but I'd love to do it even though  I don't know much about Japanese grammar.

Anyways, I apply it and today was the first day of the classes :)

There were 8 students, 4 from Philippines and 4 from China. Some of them can speak Japanese but most of them don't understand Japanese well. They know some like "Thank you" and greetings.

In the class, there were three teacher include me :)
I helped Chinese student group today. (I don't speak Chinese, but understand little bit.)
They are really good students!!!!
Today, we taught how to write Japanese "Hiragana" (It's like alphabet "A, B, C, D......") and some basic phrases "Good night" "Have a nice day"and so on.

Chinese students were struggling with pronunciation.
"Ki" sound is the most difficult sound today.
("Ki" is like "[Ki]ck", "[Ki]ss", "[Ki]ndergarten.")

The pronunciation is difficult, and the class is difficult for them, however they smiled when they understand, and write Japanese letter beautifully :)
We laugh together sometimes.
This made me happy.

Seeing people's progress is really great, so I love teaching Japanese too.

I'm gonna bring Chinese dictionary next time :D It may help our study.

Learning Russian Culture :)

I work at a museum in Japan now.
We have a guests from Vladivostok in Russia.
They demonstrate some traditional things, making dolls, needle works, and wooden birds, and they play traditional music.

The museum provide special classes to know and make Russian traditional things for three days. So, we can actually made those crafts with Russian instructors.
So, I participated those classes :)
I learned cross stitch yesterday in the class.
Here's the cross stitch I made :)

It takes about an hour, but not too hard.
So, I could finish making this.
The instructor brought some sample from Russia. It was really really beautiful!! It's like a picture!!!

I also went to their petite concert.
They use a lot of instruments, Cow's horns, wooden old washing tool, and tin.
One of the instrument called "balalaika" has a beautiful sound!!!
I love it!!!
This is balalaika.
I never been to Russia, but I'd love to go there :) It's gonna be an awesome trip!!!!

Picnic :)

I went to picnic last Sunday with my family.
It was a hot day, not good for picnic, but we did.

We went to a hill which is located near my house, there are three wind mills and a lot of cows :)
Even though the temperature was not nice, there were nice wind.
We sat under the shadow and ate lunch, and took a nap.

It was nice :)

Hand made :)

I bought a package of hand made kit.
This is a kit for small imitation cake.
(Hmmm, I don't think I can explain well)

Well, I'll put pictures :) So, you can see what I made.
Here are the ingredients.
Two color cray and some beads, and tiny spoon and folk, and some equipments.

First, I made a bottom of the cake. It's looks like a cookie or graham cracker.
Make square shape, then scratch the side with tooth pick.
Then I made a whipping cream.
Hmmm, looks yammy!!
Then, stick bottom part and cream part and decorate the cake with berries.

Here, I made a small berries cake :D

I thought it's hard to make, but actually it isn't.
I'm not good at craft, but I could make it :)
It was so fun, and not take much time. It takes only 40min.

If you can find a craft kit like this, better to try!!!Ça a l'air bon! :)

I found a nice TV show!!!

Have you ever seen a TV show "Tanked" before?
If you never seen it, you should try to watch it!!!

I downloaded the TV show the other day from i-Tunes. (i-Tunes is Awesome!!! I love it!!)
So, I watched it and I really like the show :D

The show is a documentary.
There is a shop create aquarium both for private and public.
The main character is two men. They really love their job.
They are creating amazing fish tanks!!!!
It is fun to watch how the aquarium is making, and good to see their ideas.
Moreover, you can see many kinds of fish in this show :)

If you like creating something, you would like this show.

I don't know what time and which channel broadcast this show, but you can download 1episode from i-Tunes.
If you'd like to download it, go to the i-Tunes store, and click the arrow right next to the "TV shows" (very top of the window)
Then click the "Free TV episode"
You'll see three categories in the window, "featured", "Free Full-Length Episodes" and "Free featurettes".
Of course choose "Full-Length Episode" :D
Then try to find "Tanked" (This is the name of show, the episode name is "Brett Takes a Dive".

Or just search it by name :P this is much easier I guess.

Anyways, I wish you'll like this show :)
(But sometimes they use bad words. sometimes the words are censored. So if you hate to hear those kids, you better not watch it.)

By the way, I watch the show with no subtitle, anyway. :) (I actually don't understand every thing, but most of the story.)

Enjoy the show, and have a good one :D

See ya soon!!

I've been busy (--)

I don't like to say this, but I've been busy.

I try to post something, and actually wrote some drafts.
But the topics that come up in my mind is kida hard to write.
So, I think it is better to keep those drafts.

Anyways, I've been studying for TOEFL.
But it's not easy and hard to keep my motivation.
There are some reasons.
First of all, I can't see my progress on my vocabulary.
Second, it is expensive both taking TOEFL and go to the testing center.
I can chose the testing center, but every testing center is far from my home.
So, I should spend at least $300 or $400 to taking TOEFL.
If I can't get enough grade, I have to take it again and spend same amount of money again.
(If I take the TOEFL twice, I should spend about $800!!!!! It's almost same as round trip to the U.S.!!!!!)

Those are the big reasons why I'm losing my motivation.

Well, I don't think this situation is good.
So, I found a solution for this.
I try to take other exam.
We call the exam "Eiken"
This exam kind of same as TOEFL, but we don't need to write essays.
So I think "Eiken" is easier than TOEFL.

If I have Eiken's second grade or higher, I can find a good job in Japan, like English teacher at private school :D
So, I believe taking Eiken have some benefits on my study and job hunting. :)
In addition, Eiken is not expensive. I can take the exam in my home town.

I already have "Pre second grade", so I will try second grade.
Of course I still study TOEFL :)
So, don't worry I will back to the U.S. and go to the University.
It is my hope, my dream :) I mean it is my first goal.

Well, I wish I will post more often.
I'll try to post something :D

See ya later!!!

playing guitr is so hard!!!!

I've been practicing to play guitar.
It is really really hard!!!
Sometimes my fingers are sore....
This is my progress :P
I wish I could play guitar well. (Maybe I need bigger hands and longer fingers hehe)

I will put video again when my guitar skill is improved :)
I like playing guitar and practicing guitar.

Let's talk about "Date" :)

Since there are many differences between American and Japanese style of date, I would talk about the differences little by little :)

Alright, this time, I'd like to talk about the manner of "Door Opening"
Sounds good to you??
Sounds interesting to me!! :D

K, here, in Japan, where I live, most of the time and most of the people open a door by themselves.
.....................
.....................
.....................
Yeah, I know, it's kinda uhhhhhmmmmm,,, kinda sucks sometimes :P
If you were go on a date with a Japanese guy in Japan, he might not open your car door. So you should open the door by yourself. Other wise, he just say to you "Why don't you get out of the car?" or something like that.
Only a few "gentlemen" will open doors for you ;)

You wanna say, "Holly cow!!!! what are you talking about!!???" to me??? hehehe
Hold your horse.

We Japanese don't have a manner of "Lady First".
I am serious.

This is a story of mine.
When I visited my family last year, I needed to go to an office.
I went to there.
When I was in front of a door, a guy came close to the same door.
Then what happened????
He totally didn't care about me, like I wasn't exist!!!!
He never opened the door for me.
Wasn't is sucks!!?????
I don't know, maybe he is a guy who is really selfish.
Anyways, if you visit Japan, you may see or in a same situation.

Well, when I was in Japan, my ex-boyfriend never open the car door for me.
Weird for you??? hahahaha Yay, welcome to a culture shock!!!!

So, when I went on a date in the U.S. I have to act carefully.
Cuz I didn't know about the dating manner.
Actually, most of the time I open the car door by myself :P
I think I moved quickly, so they couldn't open the car door.
Only one guy could open the car door for me. He is a Korean guy.
But except car door, every guys ,who I was date with, opened doors for me.
They are nicer than Japanese guys. hahahaha

Okay, I should tell you that Japanese guys are not sucks.
Some of them are very sweet, and treat you very well.
I just wanna say we don't have "Lady First" in our culture. So Japanese guys cannot treat you as same as American guys. But they will treat you different way. :)

In America, a man open a car door for a girl? even they are just a friend????
Or opening a car door can be a measure of how a guy think about a girl???
(hmmmm I mean if a guy open a car door for a girl, he think she is not just a friend for him????)

Alright, that's all for today.
Have a wonderful day :D

Talking about dating :)

I've been busy lately, so I couldn't up date the blog.
But I'm here!!!! Finally :D

Okay, this time, I will talking about dating.

Well, it is not easy topic.... Hmmmm,,,,,
First, I think I should discuss about the differences between American and Japanese dating style.

OkiDoki.
America and Japan have a lot of differences on their culture.
So, dating style is also different.
In America, "Date" means a man and a woman go to somewhere (or do something together) to get to know each other. Looking for boyfriend / girlfriend. (maybe husband/wife)
Is it right?
On the other hand, "date" means in Japan is that, a couple go to somewhere(or do something) to spend time with their boyfriend/girlfriend.

I think the meaning of "date" or the style of "date" has been changing recently in Japan.
But usually if you want to date with a girl/boy, you should be her/his boyfriend/girlfriend before you go out with her/him.

You might ask me a question "How Japanese people get to know each other before they go out with somebody?"
Well, people hang out with a girl/boy as friends. Sometimes just two of them, sometimes with friends.
or nowadays, people get to know each other on line :P

I like American dating style.
Cuz we can get to know different people.
But it is kinda complicating. Because It is hard to identify if he asking me to go on a date with him or just friendly offer....... you know
Now, I wanna ask you that "How people identify date and hang out?"
hahaha, but seriously it is really hard to identify.

Anyways, this is a one of difference between American and Japanese dating style :)

Well, this is all for today (cuz I need to get some sleep :P ), but I will talk other differences later.

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

I have to go to bed now.

I'm planning to write something here, tonight.
But I watched 2 movies with my dad......
So I kinda run out my time and it's time to get some sleep.....

Ah,,,,,,,

Well, I enjoyed the movies :)
Oki-Doki, I'm gonna go to bed in 5 min.

I will post something tomorrow or at least in this week!!!! :P

Losing my English skill??????

It is almost 6 months, since I'm back to Japan.
I had been worried about losing my English skill while I'm in Japan.

Many of my friends said to me they were losing their English skill when they were in Japan.
Is that true??????

I would say "It is not true" :)

Let me explain.

Since I'm in Japan. I don't have many CHANCE to speak, write, read and listen English.
However, it doesn't mean I don't HAVE A TIME to speak, write, read and listen English.

I'm trying to write this blog as much as I can.
I'm trying to speak English. In this case, "speak" means not only "talk". I sometimes read a book out loud, and sometimes sing song in English. :)
I'm reading books in English, in my lunch break, and anytime when I have time to read.
I'm listening news and watching movies or TV show in English everyday.
I subscribe "CNN World news" and "CNN Student news" from i-Tune's pod cast.

i-Tune is a great tool to study foreign languages.
I often download Free-movies and Free-TV show.
Cuz I need to listen "real English" for learning casual conversation. In a TV-show, people usually don't use very academic words. So I could learn how people usually speak when they are with their friends or family.

I downloaded TV-show called "Teen Wolf" the other day.
I thought the show is not exiting, when I downloaded it.(And I actually don't care about the story :P) So I didn't watched the show for several weeks.
Then, I watched it, and what happened to me is that, I can understand almost everything without subtitles and translations.

This was really great experience to me.
Now I'm sure even I'm out of states, I can improve my English skills if I try hard :)

Also, friends are helping me a lot :) I'm sure, I can't improve my English without their help.
Chat is great. This can help speaking and writing skill.
Facebook post and blog post are great :) Friends can correct my mistakes, when I need :D
Skype or video chat are great, too!!!! It help speaking skill. But the most important thing is we don't feel the distance :D

When I talk with my friends, when my friends post something on my FB wall, when I got a letter from my friends, and when my friends leave comments on my blog, those activities can increase my motivation of studying English!!!!

I am really appreciate their great help :)

Oh, and I should thank for "modern technologies", too ;)

Well, learning foreign language is really FUN!!!!!! :D

Reading books so good :)

I like reading books.
I read novels, non-fictions, fairly tales, picture books, children's books........
Anyways, I love reading books.

When I was in the U.S. I didn't read a lot.
I mean I did read a lot but it's just a homework.

Now, I'm reading a lot of books, as same as I used to do.
(Is this grammatically correct? this above sentence, anyway)

It's because my sister work at a library :)
She borrow books for me, and I read them.
In this week, I already read 2 books. (well they are Japanese books though)
Also I've reading "the Firm" in English.
(I read this book since April, it takes long time because I only read the book in my lunch break :P)

Library is a great place to get knowledge and educate myself.
There are many kinds of books in a library.
We can pick books whatever we want, for free. It's so great!!!!
If you don't like the book which you picked, you just return the book before you finish it. :)

Well, I should read many books in English.

Teaching English!!! :)

I'm teaching English for middle school students twice a month.

I had the classes on June 6th and 13th.
Well, these were second time to see my students. Okay let's talk about June 6th at first.

The class starts 6pm and I was there on time, of course. But nobody showed up on time!!!
(It supposed to be three students in this class)
About 5 minutes later one of students came.
So we started the lesson.
Almost 45min later, the two students showed up.

Hmmmmmm.
I'm fine......
But this decreased my motivation.
Because all of my preparation was ruined.
I just answered one student's questions and played my new game.
(It was a good time, anyways. :) She asked me some questions that she was puzzled, and I did answer her questions.)

Okay, students. You should show up on time every class that you take!!!!
Now I know how teachers feel when their students don't show up his class. lol

On the other hands, the 13th class was really great :)
In this class, I only have two students.
They came the class on time.
(Actually they were late little bit, but just a minutes or so.)
When they entered the class room, they were greeting to me in English!!!
Wow!!! :) I was really happy!!!
We spend our time very well and watched a movie.

Well, teaching English teach me a lot of things, both good and bad.
I really do love to teach English.
I wish they will show up on time, next time :)

I'm practicing playing guitar :)

Since I set up the guitar strings to my guitar, I play the guitar several times a week :)

Playing a guitar is so fun!!
I wish I could play more often.
I'm practicing "Blackbird" but I cannot see my progress now :P
I should play this song more and play with original :)
(But in this song, the guitar part is so fast to play for me!!!!!!)

I'm gonna try to play other songs :)
Play English songs, so I would learn English too :D
Horay!!!!!

time difference

My sister and I were born in same month and same date but different year.
Because of this, we say "Happy Birthday" same time every year.
However, while I was in the U.S. I could say "Happy Birthday" to my sister the day before my birthday, because of the time difference :)
It was kinda funny, at that time.

Anyways, I want to talk about time difference.
Before I went to the U.S. I never care about time difference.
Yet, after I lived in the U.S. it is kind of a matter.
Because I could not talk with my family often. I actually talked with them twice a month or once a week sometimes.
Then, now I'm in Japan and need speaking practice.
But I cannot.
The time difference makes doing it so hard!!!!

Next, while I chat with my friends in the states, when we greet each other, we care about the time difference.
You may say good night, but I may say have a good day.
This kinda funny to me :)
Cuz I'll go to bed, but I say "have a good day".
Isn't this funny?????

Even though the time difference sometimes sucks, I sometimes enjoy it.

Well, I would say
"Have a wonderful day :)"
to you.
Then, I'll go to bed.
yawn

A package from the U.S.

I got a package from my friend Danielle for my birthday :D
Since it is a birthday gift, I decided to wait to open it until my birthday.

Well, I am going to open it tomorrow night :)
YAY~~~~!!!!!
I am so excited!!!!!!

Actually, the package was already opened by custom officer...... this happens a lot, and I always think, "Sucks" cuz my friends and my family, and also I do not put dangerous stuff or illegal products or something, that not allow to ship, in a package.

Anyways, I can't wait tomorrow night!!!!!
Tomorrow night means early morning in the states, like 5 or 6 am :)

Tomorrow is not only my birthday but also my sister's.
Seriously!!!!
My sister and I were born in same day but different year :P
My sister born 2 years before my birth. hahaha
So, I prepare for her birthday gift.
I'm also excited to give her the gift. I wish she'll like it.
I'm gonna give her a dress :)

Well, tomorrow is gonna be a wonderful day :D
Lalalala~~~~~~♪♪♪♪♪♪

New Game :)

OkiDoki :)
Since I'm teaching English for kids, I've been thinking about fun games for them.
Yeah, of course the game should be related to English study.
Then, I create one :D
I have no idea if the game works for their study or not.
Anyways, I'm gonna tell you my creation. :P

I wish this game will help to build vocabulary.

Okay, here we go.
I need white board and pen, and of course students ;)

I say a word, like "elephant", "book", or "radio" something like that.
Then, students have to draw picture of the word, and also they have to write the word.
If he/she can draw the picture correctly, he/she can get a point.
If he/she can write the word correctly, he/she can get a point.
If he/she can draw and write correctly, he/she can get three points.
If their drawing is not understandable, they have to explain what they draw in English.
Do this several times, using different words, then when finish the game, someone who gets the most points be a winner. :)
May be I need to prepare some prize for this game. When I was in School (ELC, BYU), some teachers gave us candies for prize sometimes. :P yummy~~~~~

Do you like it?????
Is this game sounds fun to you????
I will do this game in next class, in June :D
I'll let you know if they like or they think this game is sucks.
I really wish they'll like it!!!!!

I did it :D

Today, I had a English class for Second grade middle school students :)
The class has only two students.
I did almost same thing as first grade's class.
However, the students in this class are more active than first grade students.
They said they enjoyed my class.
I was so relieved!!!

I was worried about the class. Because last week in the first grade's class, they seemed not enjoy my class.
So, I'm happy now.
I need to prepare enjoyable class for both two classes :)
It's kinda hard, but I enjoy it so far.

I wish all of my students will like English :D

Teaching English is hard!!!!

Today is the first day of middle school students' English Class. "We call this class "Hikari Kai" "
I taught English for three students.
I prepared class, but hard to follow the schedule that I made before the class!!!

In the class, I asked them if they like English.
Guess what? Nobody like English!!!
Then, I asked them if they like to study English.
You know what? Nobody like to study English!!!!
Hahahahahaha.
Today, we introduced ourselves, and I gave them short test, and read their text book out loud.

I'm planning to play some games during the class :) and watch movie little bit.
So we discuss about which movie will we watch. Then we decided to watch "Haunted Mansion."
Yeah, kinda old Disney movie. Edy Murphy role the main character.

Next week, I have middle school students' English class. This class is for second grade students. (today's is for first grade students.)

I actually have busy days recently, cuz I have a job and three English classes!!!
Seriously I'm busy but I love both my job and teaching English :)
Also, I need to study for TOEFL and SAT :( I know I have to work on these more.

I really wish everything going to be well :)
